St. Louis Photos is a collection of images by Bob Moore who had more than 50 years of photography, graphic design and web design experience. In the early seventies, he was publisher and editor of Concert-News, the World of Rock and Roll Newspaper. Bob drew on his experience as a staff photographer at a major daily, "The St. Louis Globe-Democrat", to create dramatic images of national and international recording stars.
In 1982, after 12 years with the Globe, he opened MOFOTO-Graphics, a commercial photography and design studio in the Shell Building and explored photography as an art form. The influence of the Old Master painters and sculptures he studied at summer art classes at the Detroit Institute of Art inspired a photographic style he developed called the "Dynamics of Light'.
In June of 1995, Bob formed the Moore Design Group with his wife Betty, a graphic designer, artist and writer, and opened an office on Laclede's Landing. Always the pioneer, he began exploring art and photography through electronic media including the Internet.
While attending a photo convention in Toronto, Canada, he discovered only a handful of sites about St. Louis. Inspired to shine a bright light on St. Louis, he returned home and began working on a web site, Saint Louis Front Page, to feature the attractions and historical neighborhoods of the metropolitan area.
In February of 1996, he uploaded several pages featuring news events, a section on Forest Park and an interactive map of the downtown area and metropolitan area. The St. Louis Fine Restaurant Guide, St. Louis Hotels Guide and St. Louis Attractions. and Southwest Illinois News soon followed. He also designed and maintained the initial award winning web site for the Missouri History Museum, in addition to web sites for the City of Fairview Heights, IL and the Lewis and Clark State Historical Site in Hartford, IL, the Mathews-Dickey Boys' & Girls' Club, the St. Louis Boundary Commission, Advance St. Louis and the Bissell Mansion Restaurant and Dinner Theatre.
Photography clients included Anheuser Busch, Boatmen's Trust Company, BJC, SLUCare, AT&T, Southwestern Bell, Fleishman Hillard, Ford Motor Company, Colliers Turley Martin, Pepsi, the May Company and the Carpenter's Union. Catalog work included Select Artificals, Crystal Graphics, the Weitzer Collection and The Golf People.
Bob's fine art photogrphy of area attractions are part of collections at the Hilton St. Louis at the Ballpark, the Thomas F. Eagleton Courthouse, the License Collector's Office at Saint Louis City Hall, the Old Spaghetti Factory on Laclede's Landing, Grafica Fine Art Gallery, as well as financial institutions and corporate collections.
